Case Study - Bespoke Manufactured Retail Market Stall.

In this case study, we explore how Eldapoint created a custom steel manufactured market stall which has allowed a century of family trading on Merseyside to continue.

With the much-documented decline of our high streets, some local authorities are sitting up and taking notice. If you can attract shoppers back into towns and cities, income from shop rates will help the whole community.

One such local authority is Knowsley Council with their headquarters in Huyton, a historic town with many famous sons and daughters, including England international footballers, comedians and a prime minister.

Famed locally is a market stallholder, Joseph Murphy, owner of the famous 'Joe's Stall' which has been selling football merchandise and other goods for over 30 years.

After a series of setbacks, Joe was ready to through in the towel. Concerned about the town centre losing the stall, a local councillor decided to set up a Save Joe's Stall page on Facebook, and within days it had garnered thousands of supporters.

The village wouldn't be the same without Joe and his stall. I still visit now and again and used to take my kids there for their football scarves. Joe always has a laugh with you. Keep it up, Joe, Huyton loves you!
- Huyton Resident

Knowsley Council decided to help Joe out and provide a bespoke stall for him to run his business. The structure had to be robust and securely constructed, but also flexible enough to be relocated if required.

After searching online and finding some recent case studies, Knowsley Council contacted Eldapoint to provide some expert advice and a quotation.

Approach and Solutions

After an initial consultation and site visit to Huyton, our team went to work on producing design drawings and working out all the logistics and fabrication requirements.

The new stall had to be located in a specified area of the town centre, and on a limited footprint which required a unique design and build. The stall had to be a quadrilateral shape with three large sides and one small side to fit the designated area. Eldapoint constructed the unit to the exact specifications with remote roller shutters on two sides and sun awnings.

Project specifications:

The finished project was delivered and installed in the town centre precinct, where a thrilled Joe was in attendance to see his new stall.

This bespoke unit created by out the box thinking has allowed a small business to continue to trade and bring some colour to the high street.

I would once again to like to thank Knowsley Council for there continued support to a small trader, and most importantly to all my customers for supporting me in rain snow wind and gales over the years. This new stall will allow me to keep trading and provide many more years selling goods in Huyton.
