Last year, the head of a primary school in the North West contacted us as they needed extra classrooms for their students. We arranged an initial consultation meeting where we talked through their needs and requirements for the project and what they hoped to achieve. Once all the requirements were clarified, we proceeded to scope out and design their vision which was then shared with the client for final review and approval.
Once the project scope was approved, we supplied CAD drawings to allow them to apply for planning permission and any necessary building control consents.
OUR SOLUTION USING CONVERTED SHIPPING CONTAINERS
The new classroom was to be installed in a field area on site, so we worked with a sub-contractor who installed eight concrete pads to support the structures. This conversion, made with three joined 20ft shipping containers, took 6 weeks to get manufacture, deliver and install.
The unit was fully insulated, complete with certified electric heaters, UPVC windows, and white LED lighting, all clad in low pressure treated timber. The install team consisted of 2 electricians, 2 joiners and 2 welders. One Hiab was needed to bring each unit into position and in total it took 7 days in to complete the installation.
Finally, we carry out a full quality checks before we handed it over to the school, who now have extra room for their students in a place out of the ordinary. Their children can now benefit both mentally and physically from having this amazing space to learn, and we are proud to be part of projects like this.
